Found

I started taking iPhone pictures in 2008 which ultimately led to a rewarding creative journey over the past decade. In 2013, I created a small book, Found, to summarize my experience, learn from my experiments, and share the zaniness and joy of creating images with my iPhone. Little did I understand at the time, but I finished the book at the same time my body was undergoing significant physical change and a forthcoming period of darkness and pain. During that time, making pictures with the iPhone played an important part in helping me get through the confusion … a therapeutic role I call “mindful focus”.

My work would eventually evolve technically with increasing sophistication that leveraged years of training from when I attended the Rochester Institute of Technology decades ago. However, I attribute the iphone to enabling a new curiosity and visual experimentation that helped me develop a style that I continue to pursue today. While, it’s a simple and playful book, Foundrepresents an important milestone in that journey.
